Carol Day advises council couple

Richmond school trustee Carol Day, who is also a Garden City Lands Coalition Society member, has shown initiative and courage in calling the council couple—Coun. Evelina Halsey-Brandt and Coun. Greg Halsey-Brandt—to account in her Richmond News letter. It was published in the newspaper as today’s “Choice Words,” and the heading is “Set Garden City views aside.”

Note: The Garden City Lands Coalition is non-partisan, and it consists of citizens who support a range of parties at all levels. Carol Day’s civic party, RITE, does not include the council couple, although it does include Coun. Sue Halsey-Brandt. My personal view is that Trustee Day’s comments are intended to be in the best interests of a good future for the Garden City Lands. I’m not sure that the recipients of her good advice will find it welcome, but it seems to be at a higher level than the kind of politicking she has identified. At the same time, since Coun. Evelina Halsey-Brandt is known for lecturing citizens who make presentations to council, there may be an element of “turnabout is fair play” in Trustee Day’s remarks.
