Happily productive 2010 AGM

The Garden City Lands Coalition Society held its third Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 23, 2010. In the AGM photo above, Michael Wolfe, the coalition’s coordinator of eco-tours, listens to members’ suggestions about future events. On his left, director Arzeena Hamir waits to introduce a visioning activity. On his right, Bruno Vernier, who had just been elected as a new director, takes notes.

Listening behind Michael, Hannah Wittman keeps an eye on her active little son. An SFU assistant professor of sociology, Dr. Wittman hopes to soon bring a busfull of her SFU students to Richmond to see firsthand the Garden City Lands and related points of interest from the perspective of her course in environmental sociology.

The members who chose to attend the AGM  took the opportunity to get to the bottom of some events of the past year and to rethink their visions for the future of the Garden City Lands as they looked forward to the new year, which is from July 2010 to the end of June 2011. To join the society or renew your membership, visit the Garden City Lands Coalition website, where you’ll also find a happy group photo of most of the members who participated.

Thanks to all who had a part in the AGM. A good example is the young adult members who cheerfully and energetically did so much to enable things to go well: planning and implementing the mostly organic refreshment menu, setting up, welcoming everyone at the sign-in desk, and cleaning up.

    Hey

Good to see it was a successful meeting and I am sorry we couldn’t make it as I had a call to work on a movie last minute.

Can you please let me know if I can join the whole family and if there is any position I can fill moving forward in the new year.
