Mahatma Gandhi and the Garden City

On this day 66 years ago, January 29, 1948, Mohandes “Mahatma” Gandhi was assassinated as an effect of his efforts to bring conflict between Hindus and Muslims toward harmony.

Now as then, Mahatma Gandhi is a model for community service like that of the Friends of Garden City.

Mahatma Gandhi

Some food for thought
from Mahatma Gandhi:

“Live as if you were
to die tomorrow.
Learn as if you
were to live forever.”

“Poverty is the worst form
of violence.”

“What do I think of
Western civilization?
I think it would be
a very good idea.”

“There is more to life
than increasing its speed.”

“In a gentle way, you can
shake the world.”
